Sanford has 500 friends. He needs technology like this to maintain connections with all of them.

Well, you likely have more friends than the quarterback and head cheerleader at your high school had, combined. That's the only thing that matters. Social networks should really describe the number of friends you have like this: More-friends-than-the-class-president+ or More-friends-than-the-founder-and-sole-member-of-the-math-club+ or More-friends-than-the-girl-with-the-fake-id+, and so on. The sad thing about becoming an adult is that you realize you truly do never get to leave high school.
My dear - you'd be surprised that I was one of those people who just loves to meet and get to know people. And when you are shy like i am, you appreciate all of these friends...;)
